Dear Prospective Student:
I try to take a real honest approach to teaching bass. I will do my best to make you the best bass player you can be. I will not let you progress simply to keep you coming to lessons and fooling you into thinking you are ahead of where you really are. Unfortunately, this is how some teachers make their living.
Bass takes years to master if you want to play it well, even with natural talent! There are many things to learn from the books, but there is a ton of stuff the books do not teach. I like to approach the lessons in a way that keeps you interested, and finds and taps into your unique creative style. As you grow as a musician, I'll be there to guide you.
I will teach you:
Reading
Technique (Fingers, Pick, Funk/Pop & Slap, Alternative Techniques)
Rudiments (Theory)
Groove (Most Important)
Ear Training (Picking songs out by ear)
Gigging/Handling yourself on stage
Equipment (Buyer Beware!)
Soloing
Riffing
Jamming (Occasionally, we will have sessions with a live band!)
Computer Music (Using the computer to become a better bass player)
Roots of Music (Where Zeppelin got it from, and how you can get it! Etc.)
Charting - Fake Books, lead sheets, etc.
Other instruments (Guitar, Drums, Keyboards) It never hurts to learn a few chords or beats to see what the other band members are going through!)
Though this you will learn: (Believe it or not!)
Confidence
Self Respect
Respect of others
How to be an overall decent person...
I look forward to working with you!
